Lucy Hazlewood

I have loved painting ever since I was a child. My grandma taught me to paint in watercolours and then I discovered acrylics at Secondary School.

I followed a career in education instead of pursuing my love of art. This led me to becoming an Assistant Headteacher in an SEMH setting. For a long time, I experienced trauma and it took a great leap of faith for me to leave and this began my journey as an artist.

It has taken me a year to really find my own style as an artist but finding semi-abstract has freed me. I love the freedom to paint based on pure emotion and use colours that are so soft and beautiful. This, combined with the chance to enjoy the intricate details I also love to paint, has led to a beautiful balance of space and detail.

Nature has always inspired me so you'll see my love of animals and plants, especially birds, throughout my collections.
