Freedom Collection
This collection was painted born of an intense desire to escape. Have you ever had such a burning desire to get away from it all? I have found inspiration in the wingbeats of birds and the powerful spirit that lives within horses and breathed it to life into these paintings. I hope they resonate with you.
Soaring Free
This was actually my first semi-abstract. I remember feeling lost and broken hearted and I just needed that feeling of seeing the clouds part and swans soaring through. The vision of that uplifted me so that's what I painted.
Guiding Spirit
My grandma loved owls and when I was in a place of feeling trapped and desperate to break free, it was her guiding owl that I could picture in my head leading the way. Who would your guiding spirit be?
Ray of Hope
As I was painting, the clouds started forming at the bottom and I got this vision of the light breaking through from above onto the top of this layer of clouds. It reminded me of the dove bringing back the olive branch after the floods in the bible. Whether you believe the bible or not, this symbolism is powerful and this painting represents the hope that comes with breaking through.
On Wings of Angels
I absolutely adore painting horizons, especially the light reflecting off the water when the sun sets. I used to watch the geese fly overhead when we lived in our previous home and always remembered feeling like I wanted to join them in the sky. Whilst dreaming up my freedom collection, those geese soaring above just had to be included.
My Soul is At Peace
This piece shows a slower form of freedom. It shows the kind of freedom you can feel when you slow down and simply take the time to enjoy. I found myself with a friend at this beautiful river where the ducks and swans were simply floating and this particular goose floated right up to me and just stared at me. I felt like this beautiful creature really knew freedom as it wasn't afraid to just go where it wanted to go.
Free Spirits
This piece was the final piece in the freedom collection and is the crescendo. I could almost feel the hooves crashing through the water as these horses broke for freedom. I have always considered horses to be so majestic and when I think of breaking free, I think of horses running in the wild and how powerful they are.
